Event production tips: Getting broadcast-quality on a budget

You don't need a full OB truck to get great-looking live coverage. We share our go-to kit and workflow for smaller events and streams.
Start with a good switcher (software or hardware) and at least two cameras—one wide, one tight. A simple audio mixer and a few wireless mics will lift the sound more than any camera upgrade. Lighting is often overlooked: a few LED panels and some diffusion can make a huge difference.
We run rehearsals the day before so everyone knows the run-of-show. For streams, we always have a backup encoder and a tested link. With the right prep, a small team can deliver something that looks and sounds professional.
