Behind the scenes: How we shot the Nairobi Film Festival opener

From pre-production to wrap, here's how the Bamba team brought the 2025 festival opener to life with live cameras, drones, and on-site editing.

We scouted locations two weeks ahead and locked in permits for aerial shots over the venue. On the day, we ran three camera units—two handheld and one on a gimbal—plus a drone for establishing shots. Our editor was on-site so we could turn around a first cut within 48 hours.

The key was coordination: a single production manager, clear call sheets, and a shared drive for dailies. We also had backup power and extra storage for the long shooting day.
